Trident maple (Acer buergerianum)
Trident maple (Acer buergerianum) is a small- to medium-sized, deciduous tree from Asia with a rounded, branching form with three lobed leaves resembling a trident. It tends to grow as a multi-stemmed, low-branching specimen, but it can be pruned to a single stem.
The exfoliating bark reveals an attractive orange-brown inner bark. Autumn foliage is usually reds and oranges, sometimes yellows.
It is a popular compact street tree, an ideal small shade tree for gardens and is often chosen as a bonsai subject.
