Stoke Red Apple (dwarf)

This variety gained attention in the 1920s when surveys found trees growing in Rodney Stoke, Somerset. The trees are fairly vigorous and crop quite heavily. Produces a sharp, slightly astringent juice and a fine, sharp cider. One of the best. Fruit small, striped dark red over yellow to greenish-yellow skinLate harvest with delayed cropping, but subsequently good yield and a biennial tendency; more than 3 weeks storage.

ALERT - limited range in Australia. Very high chill requirement 2500 hours. Only suitable for higher elevations with cold and long winters.  Very late to flower, there are few reliable pollination partners.
