The Snake Bark Maple (Acer grosseri var. hersii) is from central China and introduced to the west in 1919. It forms a small deciduous broad-crowned tree with green bark striped with white. The green three-lobed leaves turn red in autumn. Flowers are in long drooping racemes in spring.
