Scarlet Oak (Quercus coccinea)
The magnificent Scarlet Oak (Quercus coccinea) is a stately deciduous tree from north America with vivid scarlet autumn foliage. It has a wide spreading open crown of glossy deeply lobed green leaves (similar to Pin Oak). It makes an excellent shade tree and specimen tree for farms, parks, and larger properties. Tolerates most soil conditions (does particularly well in acidic, dry, sandy soils) and thrives in a cooler climate.
