Originated at Perthyre Farm, Monmouth, Wales in the late 1800s. It was propagated by George Breakwell who also introduced the variety to Bulmers as a valuable early-ripening cider variety. Trees are fairly vigorous with characteristic luxuriant, dark-green foliage. Fruit is small to medium in size. Produces a thin, light, average cider. Bittersharp.
