Honbeni Japanese Wisteria (Wisteria floribunda 'Honbeni') is a vigorous deciduous climber with stems that twine clockwise.

Produces long clusters of flowers (racemes), sometimes reaching 45 cm, with delicately scented blooms in soft pink with lavender hints. Flower colour varies slightly with the season.

A highly regarded variety, listed in the late Peter Valder’s top 10 wisterias (1996), and selected as best for pergolas, autumn colour, seed pods, and pale pink flower colour. Also awarded the RHS* Award of Garden Merit.

  • Size: To about 8 m tall x 4 m wide
  • Uses: Ornamental vine perfect for shade or privacy. Train over a sturdy pergola, along a verandah, up a wall, or even as a bonsai.
  • Features: Cascades of showy flowers, rich yellow autumn foliage, ornamental seed pods, drought hardy once established.
