Rosa Golden Eye is one of the Persica Roses developed by highly regarded English rose breeder Chris Warner. Over centuries a number of breeders have worked to capture the distinctive red blotch at the base of the petals of the otherwise unremarkable Rosa persica native to the region of ancient Persia, today Iran and Afghanistan, first "discovered" on 1784.
It is a repeat flowering bush rose with double golden yellow blooms with a bright red eye growing to about 1.2 m tall.

Following assessment during humid, wet conditions which favour fungal pathogens:
5 star varieties did not show any disease symptoms;
4 star varieties showed only very minor disease symptoms.
