Golden Spirit Smoke Bush (Cotinus coggygria 'Golden Spirit') has something to offer all through the growing season. A bushy deciduous shrub noted for its foliage of almost circular leaves emerging fresh lime-green coloured in spring then maturing to golden yellow in summer, before turning glowing shades of coral pink, red, and orange in autumn. Striking when next to contrasting coloured foliage in the garden.
Large, feathery, pinkish-white flower plumes appear in summer then cover the plant with fluffy, hazy 'smoky' puffs into autumn.
A multi-branched upright shrub to 2.5 m x 2 m wide. Tolerates light shade, prefers full sun. For strong foliage displays cut back hard each winter to promote masses of new growth. Reduce pruning intensity to encourage flowering.
