Chilliwack Raspberry

Chilliwack Raspberry (Rubus idaeus 'Chilliwack’) is a Canadian cultivar released in the 1980s. Excellent large firm fruit, red to dark red and sweet flavour that shows good rot resistance once picked. Mid-season summer-fruiting and then again in autumn. Tall straight spineless canes require little support. Long shelf-life. 

Product includes 6 bare-root canes.

  • Uses: Eating fresh, jams, jellies, syrups, drinks, desserts, cooking, and novel cut flower/foliage. Fruit freeze well.
  • Pollination: Self-pollinating
  • Harvest: Mid-December to late January, and a small autumn crop in April
  • Type: Summer fruiting on second-year floricanes—prune spent canes to ground each winter—and often a smaller autumn crop.
  • Size: About 120 cm tall x 50 cm wide
  • Chill requirements: About 600 chill hours. 
  • Growing conditions: Sheltered, well-drained, full sun; thrives in large tubs.
  • Features: Plentiful fruit for the festive season. Few thorns, tolerates heavy soil, resistant to root rot.
