Red Oak (Quercus rubra)
The wonderful ornamental Red Oak (Quercus rubra) is a large spreading deciduous tree with dark red to burgundy foliage in autumn. From north America, this fast growing tree has branches that can be from ground level or pruned at the trunk to have access under the tree. The dark green leaves turn shades of red and burgundy in autumn. Acorns ripen in late summer. The trunk features dark grey bark that is deeply fissured. Ideal for farms, parks and large properties as a stately shade tree. This long-lived tree does well in a range of climates, is tolerant of frosts and most soil types.
