Unpack your plants promptly
Please reuse the two plastic bags included with your parcel. They have been chosen to minimise waste while helping protect your plants if they need to be stored or transported before planting.

If you're new to bareroot plants, or would simply like to see the process, Rob demonstrates exactly how to unpack, inspect, soak and temporarily store your trees after they arrive.
Promptly unpack and inspect your plants on arrival. Place the roots in a bucket of clean water for one to two hours before planting or heel them in to help keep them in excellent condition.
What to check on arrival
Your plants should arrive in a healthy, viable condition. Please check that:
- Roots, stems and branches are supple.
- There is no significant sap bleeding from wounds. A small amount of sap from fresh pruning cuts is normal.
- There is no significant physical damage caused during handling or transport.
Minor marks, scratches, pruning cuts and small breaks are a normal part of growing, lifting and packing bareroot plants. These superficial imperfections do not affect plant health, establishment or long-term performance and should not be regarded as defects.
Like plants growing in nature, nursery-grown plants are resilient and well adapted to this level of handling. Minor cosmetic damage from wind, weather, wildlife and normal nursery operations is to be expected and does not affect the quality of the plant.

Plants returned in good condition within 7 days of delivery are eligible for a full refund, including the original postage cost (up to the value of the outgoing postage).
Plants that are retained, planted or otherwise kept are considered accepted, as their condition can then be influenced by handling, planting, storage and growing conditions beyond our control.

Our responsibility is to supply healthy, viable plants in good condition at the time of delivery. Their future growth and performance will then depend on planting, aftercare, soil, weather and other environmental conditions beyond our control.
