Farm update 6 August 2026

Posted by Kate Blood on 6th Aug 2026

It’s another busy week at Glenview Park, with the team working hard to keep orders moving through the nursery. It’s also lovely to see so many customers collecting their trees from the farm and the delight when they see them for the first time. We take great care to make sure trees leave us in good condition and are ready for the journey home and planting. Thank you to everyone who makes an appointment for collection and keeps to their arranged time — it really helps us keep everything running smoothly.

There was some sadness on the farm last week when 13 year-old Sheepie, the last of our Wiltshire Horn sheep, died. We had been breeding this very old breed for more than 20 years. As the nursery became busier, we gradually reduced the flock and kept just a few sheep as much-loved farm pets. Sheepie was the last of them, although our three alpacas remain and continue to enjoy life at Glenview Park.

There are little reminders everywhere that winter is drawing to a close. The daffodils are getting closer to flowering and, throughout the garden, the first signs of the approaching spring are appearing.

Rob has been involved in horticultural media for more than 40 years and still thoroughly enjoys his weekly garden talk-back on ABC radio. This week brought a nice milestone when he finally met one of the hosts in person, after almost two years of working together on air without ever actually meeting face-to-face.

And one of the nicest moments recently was planting a couple of fruit trees in a family member’s garden and sharing the process with the next generation. There’s something particularly satisfying about planting a tree together and knowing it may still be producing fruit many years from now.
