WHERE TO STAY AND WHAT TO DO IN BEAUFORT

Visit Beaufort

Staying over

If you're planning to stay the night, Beaufort offers a range of accommodation, from budget-friendly options to boutique stays, including several excellent Airbnb properties.

There are also many accommodation choices throughout the beautiful Pyrenees wine region.

If you prefer a larger regional centre, Ballarat (population approximately 100,000) is just 35 minutes east of Beaufort via the Western Highway and offers a wide range of accommodation, restaurants and attractions.

Eating out

Evenings are relaxed in Beaufort, with several local favourites including Magnolias Wine Bar & Café, The Flywheel Bar & Café and The Beaufort Hotel on Pratt Street.

Being a highway town, Beaufort also has several great cafés serving breakfast, lunch and excellent coffee.

Things to do

Take some time to explore Beaufort's antique stores, craft shops, art gallery and op shops. One of our favourites is Bloomin Fresh, just a short walk from the traffic lights.

If you're visiting on the first weekend in May or November, don't miss the Lake Goldsmith Steam Rally—one of Victoria's most remarkable heritage events.

Nature lovers will enjoy Mt Buangor State Park, less than 20 minutes from Beaufort, with walking tracks, picnic areas and beautiful bushland. The Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park is also less than an hour's drive away.

And don't forget to visit our local wineries. The Pyrenees Wine Region is one of Australia's hidden gems, producing outstanding cool-climate wines, particularly Shiraz, from its distinctive dry-climate vineyards.
